I am a graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film & Video Studies. I grew up in nine countries overseas, and frequently mentored classmates for whom English was a second language. I write for WETA's Boundary Stones, a PBS-affiliated website about local history in Washington, D.C. I can tutor English, Film and Science, and I am most passionate about Paleontology and Zoology. I am passionate about movies, books, science and history. I love helping students develop resilience, and watching them come to believe that no matter how difficult a subject might be, they will get this. In my free time, I love to read, get out into nature, visit museums, and watch movies that are so bad they're good. (Samurai Cop anyone?)

Hobbies

I love reading books, especially horror, sci-fi, fantasy and non-fiction. I've started a hobby of collecting rare vintage paleontology books. I love keeping track of everything I want to read. My list of unread horror books currently stands at 450. I love watching movies, particularly horror, action and sci-fi, and staying on top of the latest releases. But perhaps my greatest love is travel, especially getting out into nature. My favorite places to go are national parks, museums, zoos and aquariums. The Field Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo in my adopted hometown of Chicago will always have a special place in my heart. Having grown up around the world, I've had the extreme pleasure of living and traveling around South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
