Hello! It is wonderful to meet you. I am currently an incoming freshman in college who will be studying Neuroscience and English! I am extremely excited to help you become the greatest version of yourself. You can set the highest of goals and achieve them. It only requires a comprehensive plan and continued effort, but you will enjoy the journey. You CAN do it. There is absolutely nothing that is stopping you.
I would have never thought that I would be here today as an ambitious learner who has experienced many setbacks, yet still has chosen and is still choosing to set initially-believed-to-be-unachievable goals and explore any opportunity because I knew that there was no limit to what I could do. As a young child, I bought into the commonly-held belief that talent and "natural" intelligence was what helped some individuals stand out and others slide into mediocrity. So, for a very long period of time, I was "inherently" extremely quiet and "unsuitable" for sports. I was "not intelligent," unlike them, and "not the best at math". But it was when I was dragged to a very low point of living that I grew a resolve: it was impossible for anyone to be limited by what they had been and thought themselves to be. Why couldn't I become someone who loved sports and math? Am I really who I tell myself to be? Fear had been controlling me from a young age, shoveling away behaviors that would have been deemed as directing too much attention to myself, and thus drawing unwanted focus to mistakes made. I worked fervently to fit into the shell that others had created for me, as both they and I shied away from change. But I am immensely grateful that I chose to explore the opportunities around me chances that I had never thought were relevant, as I was "not the right person" to take advantage of them. I began to immerse myself in the world of cheerleading. I paid more attention to my academics, beginning to thoroughly enjoy mathematics and science. I realized that, once I began to hone in on the details of a subject and master each topic, I sincerely enjoyed playing with the intricate knowledge that I harbored. Then, I began volunteering, taking on speeches and leadership management positions, trying new sports, learning more, applying myself to various opportunities and internships, and delved deeper into my interests. It is at times like this, when I take the time to reflect the state of my current self, that I am in awe at how much I managed to do, even as someone who grew up with limited beliefs and a chiseled shell of a personality, all within a dysfunctional household. I knew that there would be more to my life. There should never be anguish in learning and failing. This is why I chose to tutor with VarsityTutors: so that you and I can inspire each other with our stories, and show our communities that nothing can quell the desire to become better. Because if I can do or become what I thought that I could never do or become, then so can you. Because even though you cannot envision the future, you know that, with consistency and effort, you can create a better and joyful future for yourself. I am here with you, and I can't wait to explore the world with you.

Undergraduate Degree: George Washington University - Bachelor of Science, Neuroscience
Although I am a jack of all trades, I do not claim that I am a master of none! Here is a list of the ongoing hobbies, interests, and projects that I am engrossed in (I would love to discuss any of these with you, and/or to learn about your own activities, as it pertains or doesn’t pertain to these): - Practicing the B-flat and E-flat clarinets, as well as the piano - Practicing as a competitive and recreational singer, which includes the creation of song “cover” videos that I may choose to upload to video-streaming platforms - Reading various novels from a wide variety of genres (I have always been and always will be a bookworm; I would love to learn about your favorite book(s)) - Writing poetry and short stories (a manuscript of a collection of poems is currently in the works; if you would like to chip in a few ideas regarding the name of the collection, please don’t hesitate to reach out) - Strolling through neighborhoods or community parks - Completing exercises for strength and flexibility - Competitive and recreational figure-skating (please feel free to tell me about your favorite jump/spin; mine is currently the scratch spin) - Studying new Calculus, Chemistry, and Neuroscience concepts (especially Organic Chemistry, which is a topic that I am very excited about) - Learning and improving my writing, reading, speaking, and general comprehension skills regarding certain languages (currently, I am absorbed in improving my Japanese, which is an extremely fascinating language, especially as it relates to the similarity between some of its characters and those of the Chinese language) - Folding origami - Volunteering at and through various institutions and organizations, which include but are not limited to: hospitals, the American Red Cross, and local Town Centers - Researching and learning more about issues within my community and initiatives that I could help to start in order to assuage those matters (many institutions and buildings do not choose to recycle purely because of the financial aspect; there is definitely a method through which this can be fixed— we only have to begin)
