I hold a PhD in Biological Sciences (Immunology and Infection) from the University of Edinburgh and a master's in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Nottingham. I have a career in infectious diseases research and a passion for teaching and knowledge transfer. I have over 10 years' experience in teaching university undergraduate and masters in biological/biomedical sciences and other sciences and maths courses.

I am a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy after attaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Edinburgh. I have served in roles such as tutor, group leader and laboratory demonstrator for the Sutton Trust and LEAPS Summer Schools. These are two flagship Widening Participation programmes at the University of Edinburgh's which opens access to higher education for individuals from low participation schools. I also support two other widening programmes The Brilliant Club and the ELTI (East Lothian Tutoring Initiative). I also offer tutorials for students preparing for Scottish National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses in biology, maths and chemistry as well as their GCSE equivalent for students from England.

I have an excellent communication and presentation skills and design my teaching in accordance with the student's interest and requirement. Students that I have tutored have gone on to achieve excellent grades in their subjects. Here's a feedback I received from a mother who daughter I tutored for Scottish Higher Biology "Before you started, she did not enjoy the biology and had poor confidence and was getting around 50%. She has thoroughly enjoyed her tutor sessions with you and the way that you have done them. Her confidence and enjoyment of the subject has increased greatly and as a result her mindset about the subject also. Her marks have increased as has her understanding of the subject."
