Hello! I'm Erin Scott-Stewart, a college professor and former high school English teacher. I've been tutoring peers and younger children since I was eleven years old, and now I have the great opportunity to teach future educators! I graduated from Tulane University in Accounting, Nicholls State with a Master's in Education, and Louisiana State University with a Master's in Education Research and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.

Student input is valuable, and I believe in collaborative learning that engages students in critical thinking and takes their interests into account. I develop a strong, positive relationships with students in all settings: online and in person - and also with individual, small groups, and large groups.

I've passed all three Praxis Core exams without missing any questions on the reading test. I passed the Praxis exam for secondary English when I certified as a teacher and again two years ago so I could be familiar with the newer exam. I provide Praxis prep regularly for education majors at my university. I've also scored well on ACT and GRE. I'm strongest in reading, analysis, writing, and reasoning, and I generally do a good job with math as well. For ACT Science, the first thing I focus on is helping students to understand the the science test is actually a reading test.

In addition to educator preparation courses, my college/level teaching includes College Composition and Introduction to Literature.

Hobbies

I love fantasy/science fiction movies, especially films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I own a small collection of Harry Potter t-shirts. I also enjoy trying new recipes and reading with my son. My favorite season is winter, but it doesn't get cold enough where I live. I love to travel to different places around the world, but I also like exploring where I live.
