Certified Tutor

My name is Jacob, and I hold a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi, with a minor in Computer Science. In my time at USM, I was active in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) while serving as a peer tutor for the federal TRIO program. At my previous college, I graduated with an Associates of Arts with Special Honors, Phi Theta Kappa recognition, and an Honors Institute certificate. There, I first began my tutoring career in the federal TRIO program, where I received tutor training through Cambridge-Stratford's tutoring courses. I've helped those with mental and physical disabilities, senior citizens, and every kind of student you could expect at such an institution. I have a deep appreciation for the influence a tutor can have on a student, whether they're struggling or not. Having received tutoring myself during my college career, I completely understand that there's no shame in asking for help. In doing my best to help students through troubling subject matter, I know I'm giving someone a fighting chance through the increasingly-competitive academic world and helping to foster an actual love of learning outside of stuffy, traditional classrooms.
