Certified Tutor

I am currently an English instructor at Virginia Tech, and I look forward to helping you hone your English and Writing Skills. Since I teach in the world of college composition and writing instruction, I know exactly what is expected, both at the high school and collegiate levels. I have experience teaching argumentative writing, persuasive writing, expository writing, research writing, critical analysis, rhetorical analysis, grammar, and critical thinking. Some additional areas in which I am more than comfortable tutoring include GRE/SAT (particularly the verbal section), philosophy, and psychology.

In the past, I have worked as a tutor for similar standardized assessments, and know that this type of tutoring differs drastically from instruction in a content domain. Because this is the case, you don't just deserve a tutor that will fill in informational/ knowledge-based gaps; you deserve a tutor that can effectively teach what most of these exams assess critical thinking.
