Denielle

Certified Tutor

With an BA in Interpersonal Communication, an MFA in fine arts and photography, a CELTA (University of Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), and a very well lived and thriving life, I can effectively teach a variety of subjects to a broad variety of individuals.

I also have great experience working with a variety of ages. I have taught a Homeschool collective of adolescents; been a Visiting Professor of Industrial Design at the University of Washington & Lee; a Collegiate Professor at Columbia College; and spent my earlier years as Teaching Intern at Savannah College of Art and Design, and a mentor for students with disabilities (in visual/fine arts and paper writing), and a tutor to (art) students who have English as a second language.

Sensitivity to the students' backgrounds and goals will be apparent in my lectures and seminars, as I will aim to connect with their personal experience, assisting students from all walks of life to seek and express creativity into all areas of their life. Expecting to be challenged by my students, I encourage them to ask questions, and I am clear-cut about not having all of the answers, though will take the time to help them to investigate. In brief, a part of teaching is being willing and receptive to adapt and change, as well as exhibiting and living the qualities that students want to aspire to. It is my objective to "be the change;" to teach with acceptance, clarity, sincerity, passion, guidance, and above all else, educational nourishment. Equanimity throughout the classroom is the ultimate goal. To this end, I seek to instill a profound balance of creative thinking into my courses, between lecturing to students and inviting them to make their own discoveries.
