I'm an avid learner, and I believe in the power of education. I'm a trained historian. With that training has come skills in reading comprehension, critical analysis, writing, and editing. I believe that when someone is motivated and excited to learn, then he or she will learn. Education is fun and exciting, so let's make it feel fun and exciting!
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California pursuing a B.A. in history and computer programming. My history degree focuses on American history, particularly with an emphasis on the 19th and 20th centuries. I have worked with students -- high school, university, and adult -- to improve skills in reading, writing, and analyzing. Additionally, I have developed a curriculum for the GRE, which has helped students achieve their goals!

What is your teaching philosophy?

Education starts with the basics, and that's where my teaching starts. To succeed in difficult concepts, one needs complete mastery of more fundamental concepts. Thus, I work to ensure true comprehension before moving on to more difficult work.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

The first session would be about going over the needs of the student. How does the student learn best? What are the student's goals? In answering these questions and getting to know the student, we can work to create a comprehensive study plan and find something that motivates them to succeed.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Motivation. The trick to learning something is wanting to learn it. I can help students build the skills that can help them become independent learners. More importantly, though, I can help a student make connections with the subject to real life, inspiring them to learn.
