Shakespeare Tutoring FAQ
Reading and analyzing the extensive works and genius of Shakespeare is a daunting task. ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ can help connect you with a Shakespeare tutor who is ready to help you reach a new level of understanding of his works. Whether you are reading A Midsummer Night's Dream for the first time or dissecting the differences between a First Folio script and a modern version of Henry V, a specialized tutor is ready to help. Shakespeare tutoring can help provide structure and organization to your studies, as well as offer you the opportunity to get instant feedback on your work from an expert, whether you are writing a short paper on King Lear or a dissertation on the use of soliloquies in Richard III. Tutors can help you master the Bard and his work through targeted lessons, all on your schedule and in a location of your choice. If you are hoping to pass a course, brush up on your critical reading skills, audition for a role, or prepare for a performance, Shakespeare tutoring is specifically designed to help you reach your particular goals.
Shakespeare tutoring can strategically allow students to experience and enjoy the great works, while also gaining a better understanding of reading comprehension and language arts. Shakespeare tutoring can encompass any level of relationship to Shakespeare's works, from reading and comprehending his plays for a class, to memorizing lines for your role as Prospero or using themes from his work to develop a more comprehensive idea of the historical context in which he lived and wrote.
Plan your course compositions with the expertise of a specialized tutor, who has resources and advice for any paper on Shakespearean language, themes, or context. Learn the nuances of Shakespeare's works that earned him such a prominent place in the Western literary canon. Judge the universality of each play and the ways in which it is applicable to a contemporary context. Develop a character study that relates to a contemporaneous figure. Write an in-depth analysis of the relationship between liturgy and Hamlet's monologue. Understand Shakespeare's language through a modern English translation, while understanding what is lost in that translation. Students can do all these things and more with Shakespeare tutoring.
Understanding the works of Shakespeare can be very difficult. It is very easy to get lost, which can be a death knell if you are trying to learn just through your class because your teacher likely doesn't have the time or inclination to slow down just for you. A private tutor can help stave off this issue by giving you as much time as you need to fully understand the areas you are struggling with.
Additionally, even if you are not currently struggling, a private tutor can still be beneficial because they can ensure that you are staying on track. So while you may not feel like you need extra help right now, it is better to be three hours too soon than a minute too late.

Recent Shakespeare Tutoring Session Notes
The student had a book report due tomorrow that he had started but it still needed more work. He had to have two drawings, a summary and a personal recommendation about the book. He did a very good job.
The student was able to finish a draft of the essay that is due tomorrow on the book they read in class, Fahrenheit 451. She will type it up at school tomorrow and show the teacher. She will ask the teacher if she should work on a second draft next week.
The student planned out his research essay and we discussed sources and how to approach his first draft/outline. We then did some SAT improving paragraphs and made a schedule for our SAT strategy. After he was getting most questions right, we decided to move on to error IDs. We learned some of the major topics and did practice questions. We will brainstorm a good strategy for him to learn the many idioms he will need to know.
This afternoon's session consisted of lots of literature vocabulary review. I quizzed the student by stating the word and then having her state the definition. We then went over the correct definitions, and I helped her come up with different acronyms or mnemonic devices to help her remember the more difficult terms.
We went over previously assigned paper today and discussed how to form a more complete argument and using more mature vocabulary in writing. We then worked on an opinion piece together, doing the pre-writing as an example of how to come up with a full fledged paper that is well thought out.
We studied for the student's English final by writing out the definitions of vocab words and revisiting grammar worksheets that he had completed previously. He definitely seems prepared for the grammar portion, and, after reiterating the literary definitions, he should be prepared for the multiple choice portion of the final as well.
