African History Tutoring FAQ
Studying the rich and ancient history of Africa presents any student with numerous challenges. African history encompasses a history that spans for millennia and attempts to describe an entire continent and the many distinct cultures, kingdoms, and civilizations that it gave rise to. Thus, the breadth of the subject can make it seem extremely overwhelming. While African history classes may narrow their focus to particular eras, cultures, or regions, more challenges arise from the interconnectedness and interactions between African regions, as well as the complex relationships with European cultures.
The paucity of written documentation of much of ancient African history means one may need to approach it using methods very different from the text-based studies used to address the histories of other regions, cultures, or eras. You may be expected to piece together early African history from sources as various as art, cultural traditions, transcribed oral stories, architecture, archeological findings, and other historical elements that form a part of a greater picture of a society at a given time. Additionally, the way in which Africa's cultural landscape was altered by the slave trade, the way in which it was divided up, colonized, and eventually decolonized by European countries, and its later political instability all can present students with unpleasant aspects of history that are difficult to discuss or come to terms with.
If you are having a hard time in your African history course and could use some personal guidance from someone knowledgeable about the subject, ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ can help you connect with an African history tutor. These highly skilled and experienced tutors have succeeded in their own African history courses, and our educational directors can help you connect with a private tutor whose previous experience with the subject best suits your specific concerns and particular course content.
A private tutor can work to custom tailor your African history tutoring to address just those aspects of the subject that you find most confusing. If you need help in researching a paper, putting the significance of a particular artifact into words, or keeping track of a large timeline of events spanning centuries, we can help connect you with a tutor who can help. The lesson plan your tutor creates for your African history tutoring sessions prioritizes your needs and concerns, and doesn't waste time reviewing material you already understand, allowing your tutoring experience to be extremely efficient and effective. Your tutor can also work at your pace, which allows you to spend as much time on a particular topic as you need to fully comprehend it.
You can have your tutor's full attention during your sessions, giving you the opportunity to discuss confusing points, receive feedback on your work, and have questions answered as they arise during your learning process. This is something that may not really be an option in a classroom setting, because your teacher likely doesn't have the time to spend significant time with individual students.
΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ is dedicated to providing you with an experience that is both flexible and convenient. Our live learning platform allows you to meet with your private tutor either in person or face-to-face online. This gives you the freedom to meet your tutor at a time and place that works best for you. Studying in a comfortable environment will ensure that you are getting the most out of each tutoring session. With this in mind, your tutor can meet you at whatever location feels most comfortable to you.
Contact ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ today for more information and let us help you connect with an African history tutor that can help meet all of your needs.

Recent African History Tutoring Session Notes
I reviewed topics that the student learned about in class this past week. From reviewing I observed that the student was very knowledgeable with the subjects. We then moved on and I began to pre-teach the material for the following week for the student. Overall, the session was extremely successful!
We continued to review from the book. We went over the study guidelines her teacher provided and how to read graphs and maps. I also wrote out an outline for her to follow when taking notes to prepare for this final.
The student's teacher said that her social studies final will be completely multiple-choice and will mainly test vocabulary knowledge, so we tailored our studying strategies today accordingly. I quizzed her on all of the vocabulary until we both felt confident that she knew the words well. Then we reviewed nearly all of her old social studies tests, looking up any questions that she had gotten wrong. Since this test is multiple-choice and closed-notes, as opposed to the usual open-notes, short answer format, I focused less on minor details such as geography and more on key concepts, people, and phrases. I also taught her some general multiple-choice test strategies to use in the event that she is really unsure what answer to pick.
Today we spent the majority of our time preparing for the student's world culture quiz on Tuesday and perfecting his outline. We also spent a brief moment reviewing his math for a test on Tuesday as well. He appears to be a very good math student.
Student 1 and I finished her social studies study guide for her test, and began her practice test. We went over important vocabulary (revolution, volunteer, Declaration of Independence, constitution, patriot, patriotism) and went through Unit 1 in her book. Student 2 and I did a math worksheet about litter collection and grouping numbers, and then we worked on his science project, which was classifying aliens on a poster.
I helped the student study for his social studies test. I reviewed the work he had done in outlining the essay questions. I also quizzed him on some of the study guide. For the matching sections, he preferred for me to read the definition and he would say the vocabulary word. I went along with that for a bit, but for the people and events, I would give him the name of the person/event and he would need to explain it to me. I would ask follow up questions to make sure he knew the material. I told him that going that direction would be more helpful because we learn things better when we teach them to someone else.
