When I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor's in education and received my teaching certificate, I couldn't believe I had completed such a task. My dedication to learners and their goals are just as important to me as my goal was in completing my college program. Along with a college education, I have a passion for music and teaching all those who want to learn.
When working with students, I know that trust is important. I value each person as an individual with unique learning styles. Patience, asking the right questions and listening are skills I have developed from over 10 years of teaching, and are still the way I teach and engage with students.
I enjoy guiding students in the foundations of reading and other language art topics. I have a passion for helping with deep math foundational skills. History and physical science are just a few areas I also enjoy teaching. Goal setting, mindset and organization skills are also very important to learn and I find value in helping others develop. I love to learn, so if there is a topic I am not an expert in, I am confident that I can learn alongside my students and help them in their learning journey.
My philosophy is that our character and mindset are just as important as completing learning objectives. We can learn and grow our entire lives if we persevere and are willing to get back up and try again; our education is a gift and adds quality to our lives.
When I am not working on professional development, I love to garden and decorate. I enjoy hiking and spending time with my family. And of course creating and making music!

Hobbies

I am interested in many things. I love to build and create. My most recent project has been my family's chicken coop! I love to sing and play the piano, as well as the ukulele. I truly enjoy the journey of designing, planting and taking care of my plants and landscape projects. Learning is a hobby I am always exploring. This past year I have started learning Spanish, and love it! My main interest has to be my family, we have five kids, 2 cats and 9 chickens! Playing sports, fishing and playing card games are some of our favorite hobbies and past times.
