Certified Tutor

I'm a hard working person with an interest in so many areas of life. My college degree is a BFA in Visual Communications (Graphic Design) with a minor in Business. After doing that for 6 years professionally, I took some time off to travel the world and am now trying to forge a new career path through tutoring, community service, and sustainable practices.

One thing I can say for sure is that I'm a very adaptable and social adept person. I believe in offering everyone high encouragement with also trying to give them the freedom and space to explore things on their own.

The areas of tutoring that I'm focusing on are math and art.

One of my favorite subjects is math and I really like helping others learn to engage in mathematics as much as I do. I know a teacher can make or break for a student, even if you are gifted in a subject. So I believe in really getting to work with a student and finding the right strategy that works. I also believe in trying to encourage students as much as possible and never shaming them for a mistake. Learning is very vulnerable and scary, so trying to create a safe environment will always be my number one priority. I also believe in trying to show students how what they're learning in the classroom can apply to real life.

I've currently been volunteering working over Zoom with students through an organization called Seeds to help students in 4-8th grade with their math lessons. When the students don't have any questions themselves, we then pull a worksheet that has been provided and focus on an area.

The beauty about art is that it encompasses so many things: self-expression, freedom, communication, reflection, and so much more. It is also a practice. Any time someone has complimented a drawing or photograph of mine, I always talk about how many drawings and pictures it took to get here. I firmly believe everyone is an artist and finding your own style and techniques are key.

Outside of academia, I love to travel, learn about different cultures and language, read a variety of material, take pictures, and work in my garden. So many things in life interest me, and I want to keep soaking up the world as much as I can.
