Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Limestone College where I earned my Bachelors of Arts with an equal focus in studio art and graphic design. During my time at Limestone, I traveled with some of my fellow peers and professors on academic trips overseas to Italy, Greece, Spain, and Portugal. It was during these trips that I gained an insatiable appetite for knowledge of the arts, literature, history, and archeology.
Once I graduated Limestone, I decided to take a temporary break from my personal academic career and began to pursue another interest of mine, equestrianism. I have ridden horses for the past 13 years and chose to share my passion with others. So I began to work as a riding instructor for Thunderbay Riding Academy teaching children 5-17 years old the equestrian arts.
At Thunderbay I discovered my true calling, teaching.
I myself struggled in my early years with academics and the social hierarchy; so when I come across a student going through a similar scenario I see myself in them. I find it incredibly self-fulfilling to take a student who is struggling with overcoming an obstacle: be it physical, mental, or emotional; and coach them into not only overcoming said obstacle, but have them fly over it with such gusto that the student is unrecognizable from when they first came under my wing.
I firmly believe that every student is unique, each with their own individual strengths, weakness, and passions. As a teacher, one cannot use a single mold and expect every student they come across to fit said mold. As a teacher, I use a student's passion(s) to gain some form of common ground. Then, I praise my student's strengths, and address their weaknesses. From there, we develop a system that helps said student blossom and flourish.
I currently tutor elementary through high school English and numerous art related subjects. I love tutoring both, for I see art as a visual representation of human expression and literature as a verbal representation.
Along with horses, literature, history, and the arts; I love to go camping, spend a day swimming in the ocean surf, sing, read, or write in my free time.
