In 2003, I graduated from Penn State with a B.A. in English, and in 2015, I completed my M.Ed with a focus in School Counseling from the University of Tennessee- Martin. Spending the last three years working in a small, private school has afforded me the opportunity to develop both my counseling and teaching skills. I've learned that forming authentic relationships with students and their families can bolster the learning process.
When working with students, I try to personalize the content to their interests whenever possible. I also try to give appropriate challenges; I want students to be engaged and always learning, but not overwhelmed and frustrated.
As an educator, my passion is helping students experience those "ah-ha!" moments, when everything clicks at once and students feel empowered ad confident.
