I recently graduated in mechanical engineering, so a lot of the material that I will be tutoring is still fresh in my head. I have tutored friends in both high school and college, in both math and physics. I haven't worked as a tutor professionally, but I will be able to draw on my experience from helping my peers through school to tutor others in the best way possible. I graduated from the University of Utah's Mechanical Engineering program with a 3.9 GPA, so I have a good grasp of all of the subjects that were covered. Because I usually understood the material pretty quickly, I was often able to help my peers come to an understanding as well.
I enjoy helping people understand how to think about problems and figure them out. Every student is different, and it is very rewarding to be able to figure out how to help each individual student understand the material. I have a mind for problem solving, which is why I decided to pursue engineering, so I tend to think of tutoring as a type of problem solving. Not only am I helping the student solve their homework problems, I am also figuring out the reason the student doesn't understand the material in the first place. I also have always enjoyed the perspective I get from teaching. It gives me a better overall understanding of the subject, so I am even more prepared for future lessons and future jobs.
I currently am available during the day and in the evenings as we head into the end of the semester. Feel free to contact me to see when I can meet with you.
