...as a tutor is not to teach someone how to solve a problem or pass a test, but to teach the essential knowledge needed to succeed in a course beyond the raw grade. I believe that through a holistic assessment of a subject, it will be easier for someone to learn how to accomplish tasks related to that subject in the future. I hope to get students to a point where they are self-sustaining.

IB History SL Tutoring FAQ
International Baccalaureate (IB) History Standard Level (SL) content is presented at a rigorous level in class, and is tested at a corresponding difficulty on the class' cumulative final exam papers. These papers consist of various types of written responses and require you to have superb recall and writing skills in order to meet with success. While the class and its exam papers can be enough to overwhelm anyone, you may feel additional stress about your IB History SL course as a result of the lack of specialized resources available to provide you with assistance. Class-based review and written study guides can't help you to identify the particular topics on which it would most benefit you to focus your attention; however, specialized IB History SL tutoring can do just this. You can get in touch with a tutor who is able to help you.
大象传媒' educational directors are available to help you in your search for an individual tutor. They can construct your personal student profile to identify teachers who can relate to your learning style. In addition, you can share your course syllabus, concerns, weaknesses, testing dates, and other details on your profile. Armed with these, potential tutors can quickly assess how they are able to provide assistance to you. If you have goals in mind for your IB History SL course, be sure to let them know! Your hand-selected tutor will ensure that you are on the right track to achieve these goals.
Available nationwide, IB History SL instruction is custom-tailored to your specific academic concerns to best support you as you pursue your personal academic goals. With a flexible plan, you are free to spend as little or as much time as necessary to fully master any given concept. Further, you are free to ask for fewer or more meetings at any point, whether you need additional time to prepare for an exam or if you find you are busier than previously anticipated.
IB History SL tutors are superb pedagogues who can break down the most complex topics into manageable pieces to make learning seem intuitive. They can provide you with instruction focused on just the aspects of your course's content that you find particularly difficult to master. Tutors can focus on either of the course's possible routes, so whether your particular class involves the history of Europe and the Islamic world or the rise of communism and the Cold War, specialized IB History tutoring can help you make sense of the content you need to learn. By individually tailoring your learning experience to your specific needs and goals, your tutor can work to diagnose the areas in which you have trouble and can help you bolster the specific skills you need to excel.
All tutoring is one-on-one in order to individualize every session and offer the most flexible scheduling options possible. Your tutor understands that you may have a full schedule, which can often cause potential roadblocks in your tutoring schedule. You can arrange your sessions based on your extracurricular activities, work, class, sports, and anything else that may be expected of you. Furthermore, you can ask to meet in-person for tutoring sessions at home, school, a local shop, or other location, or you can request to hold face-to-face online tutoring sessions.

Recent IB History SL Tutoring Session Notes
Tonight the student and I worked on her review of World War I. She had a list of terms, events, and people related to WWI that she completed. As we went through the list we discussed each term and cleared up any confusion. We also made connections between terms and connected items to the larger picture. She has two assessments this week on the material.
Today the student finished up English before moving on to Ancient Civ. For English, she wrote a limerick dedicated to Penny Lane! For AC, she began a research project of the Roman Empire. It is a tough assignment because there is no text; most of it is to be found using internet sources, and some of the info is hard to find in a text that she can understand. But she worked hard, and we were able to get enough info to get started on a presentation project.
We reviewed the Gilded Age, Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression for the student's final on Friday. She did well and seems to have retained most of the information. I didn't leave her any extra practice as we will work on more next time.
Today we reviewed the student's unit test and continued our skills building in decoding primary source documents for a essay. He had no quiz grades to review. I left the student with a paragraph writing assignment to do.
In the first part of the lesson, I quizzed the student about various historical topics using the flashcards he provided. I elaborated on explanations while he wrote notes. For the second part of the lesson, I gave the student another practice test, using the same format as last week. I told him to really study world history with the flashcards and the study books.
The student and I began today by organizing his materials and his big trapper keeper. One important piece of being successful in school is being organized! After this, he began to work on social studies that included topics on ancient Greece and ancient Egypt. The student expressed that he was happy to be catching up on all this work!
