Catherine

Certified Tutor

I am a law student at Quinnipiac University. I received my B.A. in English from Wells College, nearly 15 years before I decided to attend law school. For many years, I spent my summers teaching ESL classes to foreign exchange students. My students ranged in age from 12 to 18. The most rewarding part of the experience was witnessing the moment when minimum skills turned to competency, or competency turned to fluency. In my work with students since then, I have looked for several more of those moments. Whether it is when metered poetry suddenly makes sense, or when a jumble of conflicting thoughts turn into the first paragraphs of an admissions essay, helping a student find clarity is exhilarating. When I'm not tutoring or studying, I listen to podcasts (from murderinos to beautiful nerds, I'm with you), read science fiction novels, or write poetry.
