Currently matriculated in the University of Missouri Columbia as a physics doctoral candidate, I was originally trained in the dark arts of mathematics and physics at a small, Midwestern university in Decatur, Illinois (Central Illinois area).
My work at the University of Missouri has led my reception of a Masters of Science degree in physics and I am continuing to develop my thesis to eventually obtain my doctorate. My teaching belief is that anyone and everyone can understand physics with the proper support and guidance. Having served in a teaching and tutoring role for five years, I have both the professional background and experience base to teach a wide variety of students in many different fields of physics (as well as in the mathematical principles and disciplines that physics relies on: calculus, algebra, and trigonometry). Simply put, I want to demystify the science of physics to make it tangible and enjoyable for anyone who is required to take a physics class. Likewise, for those just interested in a captivating field, I would like to assist in developing a deeper comprehension and skill set to potentially pursue a career in mathematical science.
Being a graduate student, I have a familiarity with entrance exams and tests, namely the GRE. Requiring more than just a knowledge of subject matter, the GRE necessitates strategy and time management. To a point, time management and strategy are more important than just understanding the definition of the word 'matriculated' that I threw in at the beginning of this statement. Knowing when and where to take shortcuts can help reduce stress in a stressful environment and lead to better test scores to strengthen any potential graduates resume.
In the end, I believe I have the background and education to be able to help you understand the nuances of physics and math in order to achieve your goals, dreams, or plans.
